Amazing Baby Back Ribs in the Oven!
Yes! You can have amazing baby back ribs in the oven and you can do it only 3 hours. It’s pretty easy and you’re going to love the results so let’s get going. The first step with baby backs is to remove the ribs from the package and rinse with cool water. If you are a first timer please be aware that the ribs may have a bit of what feels like a slick coating on them. Nothing to be alarmed over, this is perfectly normal and there is nothing wrong with your ribs. Rinse this off and pat dry with a paper towel. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. You don’t want to deal with this on your plate! For a step by step guide on removing this membrane see our article “Removing the membrane from ribs.” |
For the next step you will need to begin the night before. This will season and tenderize your ribs. Place the ribs on a cookie sheet and cover with yellow mustard. Spread the mustard over the ribs evenly, along the edges and ends and on both sides. Next you will cover the ribs with your favorite BigShotSpicyMan rub. We recommend that you try the Sweet Smoky Rub or the
Memphis Dry Rub. Both rubs will give you excellent flavor and you’ll be the rib champ when they’re served! Spread the rub generously on both sides. Too much is not an issue as it will be removed in the next step. After the mustard and rub is applied cover the ribs on the cookie sheet with saran wrap and place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning or just prior to cooking remove the ribs from the refrigerator and rinse the mustard and rub off with clean water. Place back on the cleaned cookie sheet, coat with olive oil on all edges, both sides and reapply the rub. The mustard and rub will have done their work over night penetrating the meat so you will just need a light coating of rub now. Apply to both sides and edges. Rub the seasoning in for a couple of minutes. It would be best to let the ribs stand a bit to gain room temperature but it is fine to pop them straight into the oven. The next steps are easy squeasy!
Presto!! You are the Rib King!!! Enjoy!
